Pre-Trip Backpack

Five of us went on a weekend backpacking trip to try out new and borrowed equipment that we're taking with us to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Actually, it wasn't really backpacking because we stayed in a campground accessible by car. We hiked several miles everyday carrying at least 40 pounds of gear and made several discoveries.

Joanie and I both realized that our boots won't be suitable for a week of extensive hiking carrying a 50 pound pack. And Jenn and Joanie discovered faulty tent poles that need repairing. I ended up getting a pair of larger/sturdier boots on sale at REI, then had them stretched wider in the toe box.
